Wings Fall 4–1 to Dartmouth in a Hard-Fought Battle at RBC Centre

The Wings hit the ice at the RBC Centre just before lunch for their first regular season matchup against the Dartmouth Whalers. The Whalers came out flying, finding the back of the net just over a minute into the opening frame to grab an early lead. But from that moment on, the Wings showed they were the stronger, more dominant team — pushing the pace, winning battles, and generating chance after chance.

The intensity never let up, with both teams trading big plays and close calls throughout the game. It wasn’t until early in the third period that the Wings finally broke through, when Lucas Van Dusen buried a beauty to tie things up, assisted by Cooper Norris and Harrison Lind. The momentum shifted instantly, and it looked like the Wings might take control — but the Whalers capitalized on a few quick opportunities, netting two back-to-back goals and another late in the frame to seal a 4–1 win.

Despite the loss, there were plenty of positives to take away. One player in particular stood out — Beckett Tink, who showed off some unreal hands and fired several dangerous shots that tested Dartmouth’s goalie all game long. For his skill, effort, and relentless positivity, Beckett earned the Player of the Game honours.

The Wings won’t have much time to dwell, as they’re back on home ice tomorrow night for Monday Night Hockey in the old barn — Scotia 2. They’ll face Bedford White for the first time this season, and it’s shaping up to be a great matchup. Let’s pack the rink, get loud, and show our Wings some love. Puck drops at 7:30pm.

Wings Soar Past Bedford in Post-Halloween Rematch Victory

It was a lunch-time showdown at the Greenfoot Energy Centre, and the Wings showed up fired up — maybe from the Mountain Dew and Rockets still fueling them from the night before. In a rematch against the Bedford Blues, the Wings came ready to redeem themselves, skating away with a well-earned 4–1 victory.

Bedford opened the scoring midway through the first, setting an early tone. But the Wings wasted no time responding — Blake Matthews lit the lamp to tie things up, followed shortly after by Lennon Sampson, who buried one to give the Wings their first lead of the game. Before the period closed, Harrison Lind sniped one to extend the cushion and cap off a dominant first frame.

The second period was a tight defensive battle, with both teams trading chances but no goals finding their way through. Early in the third, Hunter Rozee fired a shot on net that bounced perfectly off the goalie’s pads, right onto the stick of Lucas Kelly, who made no mistake finishing the rebound to seal the 4–1 win for the Wings.

The effort across the roster was outstanding — smart puck movement, relentless forechecking, and solid goaltending kept Bedford off balance. But one player in particular stood out to both the crowd and the coaching staff. With composure, hustle, and the game-winning goal, Lennon Sampson earned himself Player of the Game honors.

The Wings played with heart, discipline, and a whole lot of energy — proving once again that when they’re locked in, they’re a force to be reckoned with.
