Recreation Evaluations - Update
Recreation evaluations are scheduled to begin on Sunday, October 6th and continue through to Wednesday, October 9th. Teams will then be selected shortly after with regular season practices to begin on Monday, October 14th for some teams.
BDMHA would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing U13 and U15 Competitive Tryouts and how they are impacting upcoming Recreation Evaluations. While Recreation-level player evaluations will be starting in the coming days, the competitive tryouts will not be finalized before these evaluations begin.
As the competitive tryout process continues, we may face a shortage of goalies for our U13 and U15 intrasquad evaluation games. In such cases, we may need to use "shooter tutors" to assess skaters effectively at these levels.
Although this isn't an ideal situation, we want to remind everyone that the purpose of the evaluations is to ensure balanced teams for the upcoming season. The use of "shooter tutors" will still allow us to evaluate players' gameplay and skills fairly.
If any goalie cuts are made before the scheduled intrasquad games, those players will be added to the games. Should there be only one goalie available, we will use a "shooter tutor" in one net and switch sides midway through the evaluation so players can shoot on a goalie.
We are also making an adjustment to the evaluation process for the U11 and U13 divisions. Instead of holding skills sessions, we will be replacing them with two intrasquad games for each division. These games will allow us to more effectively assess player levels and support the team draft process.
Please make sure to check your respective Recreation page regularly for the most up-to-date information.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work through this process.
