Fundraising Guidelines

Link to Fundraising Options/Ideas

OK, your team has to raise some funds but what can this money be used for?  Here you will find the information which outlines the Bedford & District Minor Hockey Association authorized used of team money.

Every year our Rep teams raise thousands of dollars in order to run their programs.  With upward of 17 teams this year with budgets ranging between 10 – 30 thousand dollars, there must be guidelines in place to ensure that the money being raised under the Bedford and District Minor Hockey name is properly managed.

Each Manager will be responsible to submit their proposed budgets and fundraising plans to the Association.  Please email these to Lori Weatherbie - Treasurer, Bedford and District Minor Hockey at Email no later than October 20th.  Included in this will be the following:

  1. Proposed Budget

  2. List of Fundraising activities planned.

We will require an expense and revenue Budget Sheet and a Bank ledger sheet including who your cheques were written to. (Any entry marked misc. must be itemized)  Final year end budgets are to be submitted to the association on or before April 30, 2009

The following is a list of guidelines that teams must comply with:

  1. Team fundraising must not be used to purchase team clothing.

  2. All money used for extra development must be used during the hockey season and not for summer sessions.

  3. Care should be taken to ensure that only the amount of money needed to run the Rep team is raised.  In the event that teams are left with surplus funds at the end of the season, these funds must be returned to the association.

Teams who do not comply with the requirements will be dealt with by the appropriate BDMHA executive member. (i.e. travel permits maybe revoked, etc.)

Businesses and individuals very generously donate thousands of fundraising dollars to Bedford and District Minor Hockey and it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that team money is spent wisely!
